Prisoner of War: He was captured by enemy forces during the WW2 campaign in Libya. He survived the camps, was subsequently liberated, and returned safely to New Zealand via England at the end of the war. A Family of Service: He was one of four brothers from the Beel family of Dryden Street, Dunedin, who all served overseas and were remarkably all held as prisoners of war (three in Libya/Greece) but safely returned .He passed away at the Dunedin Public Hospital shortly after the war. Because his death occurred within the official post-war commemoration window and was attributed to injuries or illnesses aggravated by his wartime service/POW conditions, he is recognized as an official war casualty.Medal & Case are in excellent condition.Have not taken medal out of case…
