WWI Japanese 1914–1915 War Medal (Taishō 3-4 Campaign)…. original Imperial Japanese 1914–1915 War Medal. This campaign medal was officially instituted on November 6, 1915, by Imperial Edict No. 203 to honor military personnel who participated in the early operations of World War I—primarily the joint Anglo-Japanese siege against the German strategic port of Tsingtao and naval campaigns in the South Seas. This specific medal is the highly collectible first / early variation, featuring the reverse text spanning "Taishō 3 to 4" (1914–1915). It was later superseded by the 1914–1920 version, making this shorter-span variant scarcer.
