German Kriegsmarine S-Boat / E-Boat War Badge – 2nd Pattern by Schwerin

2nd Pattern Fast Attack Craft War Badge(Schnellbootkriegsabzeichen). This excellent award features the iconic design of a modern S-boat cutting through ocean waves, surrounded by a detailed oak leaf wreath and topped by the Kriegsmarine eagle.
Made by C. Schwerin & Sohn, a widely respected maker of Kriegsmarine awards.
Die struck, mid-to-late war zinc.The badge is nicely detailed, retaining a fair amount of its original finish although  some of the original gilt finish on the wreath has migrated into the zinc over the decades, giving it a classic, field-worn appearance .The crisp striking, clearly showcases the forward torpedo tube, the pilot’s bridge, and the flag.
Stamped with the raised crisp maker mark AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN 68. Features a correct, intact, and untouched soldered solid block hinge, a thin vertical pin, and the original catch. The hardware has zero repairs.Excellent condition with an honest, uncleaned, and highly desirable field-worn patina.
